Frequently Asked Questions

I work with employers who genuinely care about creating and maintaining exceptional workplaces for their teams. My ideal clients are those who appreciate quality over a quick fix and are ready to invest their time and money into something meaningful.
You’re likely a good fit for us if you’re looking to partner with an expert and work together to create lasting change for the benefit of your team and your business.
If you’re looking for a fast and cheap solution and you’re willing to compromise on quality to achieve it, I’m not the right consultant for you. If you’re looking for representation at the Fair Work Commission, I’m not the right consultant for you.
My clients value an integrated partnership and the peace of mind that comes from knowing I’ve got your back.
-
Absolutely – we can’t achieve all you deserve without you.
The most effective HR strategies are built in genuine partnership with the business owner. My role is to carry the load with you, not take it off your hands entirely because that diminishes the trust your team have in you.
What I can promise, is that you’ll no longer be navigating your HR alone.

An HR consultant provides expert guidance, strategy and practical support across all aspects of managing people in the workplace. From employment documentation and compliance to performance management, workplace culture and communication strategy, an HR consultant helps business owners navigate the complex and ever-changing landscape of employer obligations.
Think of it as having an experienced HR professional in your corner, without the cost of a full-time salary.
-
Absolutely. Sage & Cedar HR operates as both an in-person and a virtual service which means I work with business owners right across Australia. Distance is no barrier to great HR support – everything from our discovery meetings to strategy sessions and implementation support can be delivered online.
Where in-person attendance is required or requested, travel can be arranged and is charged at $197.50 + GST per hour plus additional costs.
-
My services are priced transparently and are tailored to each client’s specific needs. My work is based on an hourly rate of $395 + GST per hour and wherever possible I’ll package services to offer the most competitive pricing for your engagement.
Every client receives a detailed proposal before work commences so you know exactly what you’re investing and what you’ll receive in return. Invoices are payable upfront and where it is supportive, a three month payment plan can be arranged.
-
It depends on the nature of the engagement but in my experience the shift often begins sooner than people expect.
Many clients feel the difference from our very first call, with many feeling the release of pressure almost immediately.
Meaningful change builds over time and my effectiveness will depend on where your team is at, what issues we are invited to help fix and how willing your team members are to build a relationship.
While there is much that’s out of our control here, what I can promise is that I’ll always be working towards outcomes that are real and built to last.
-
Right here. Many of my clients come to me without any formal HR infrastructure in place, and that’s completely ok. There’s no judgement, only a genuine desire to understand where you are and help you build from there.
We’ll start with a conversation, take stock of what you have, identify what you need and build a clear plan together. Every business starts somewhere and the very next best time to start is now.
-
Please call.
People challenges don’t wait for convenient timing, and neither do I. Ad-hoc HR support is available outside of your current engagement at my standard hourly rate of $395 + GST per hour.
Whether it’s an unexpected performance issue, a difficult conversation you need to navigate or something that simply can’t wait, I’m here to help you work through it with the same care and expertise as everything else we do.
-
Always. Once you’re a Sage & Cedar HR client, you’re always a Sage & Cedar HR client.
Whether it’s been five minutes, five months or five years since we last spoke, I’ll always be happy to help where I can. For straightforward questions I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction. For anything more involved, we’ll develop a tailored proposal or charge at my standard hourly rate – either way, you’ll never be left high and dry.

AI is a remarkable tool and has its place in many aspects of business. When it comes to HR, there are some things AI simply cannot replace.
Your business is unique, your team is unique and the challenges you face are uniquely yours. AI works from generalised information and can’t always account for specific legislation requirements, industry nuances or human complexities that shape great HR practice in the real world.
Mistakes in HR can be costly, both financially and culturally and what AI can’t offer is a genuine human connection or the ability to truly understand – two of the most important factors for your teams.
